Installation & First Launch
PassSafer runs 100% locally on Windows, macOS, and Linux without cloud telemetry.
- On Windows, if SmartScreen appears on first launch, click "More info" and "Run anyway".
- Set your Master Password and 6-digit PIN carefully. Both are required to unlock your local vault.
- Free Forever works immediately after installation with no license key required.
License Key Activation
Unlock Watchtower, Security Reports, Unlimited File Vault, and Local P2P Sync with a one-time key.
- Open the PassSafer Desktop App, navigate to Settings, and paste your license key (starting with PS-).
- Your key is verified cryptographically offline and stays active permanently without recurring checks.
- Didn't receive your key email after purchase? Check your spam folder or message support@passsafer.com.
Local P2P Device Sync
Synchronize your encrypted vault directly between your devices over your home or office Wi-Fi.
- Ensure both devices are connected to the same local network (LAN/Wi-Fi) and client isolation is disabled.
- Allow PassSafer through your local OS firewall (Windows Defender / macOS Firewall) for local discovery.
- All synced packets remain end-to-end encrypted with AES-256-GCM and never touch external servers.
Browser Extension Connection
Autofill credentials seamlessly in Chrome, Firefox, Brave, and Edge while keeping your vault offline.
- Keep the PassSafer Desktop App unlocked in the background when syncing credentials to the extension.
- Click a suggested credential in the dropdown to fill both username and password automatically.
- Configure auto-lock timers inside the extension's Settings tab to match your security workflow.
Frequently Asked Support Questions
Because PassSafer is a true zero-knowledge, 100% offline password manager, we do not have servers, accounts, or backdoors. Your vault is encrypted locally using keys derived from your Master Password. Neither we nor anyone else can reset or recover a forgotten Master Password. Always store a physical recovery note in a safe place.
You have two options: In the Free Forever or Lifetime version, open PassSafer on your old computer and use Export to save an encrypted .pass backup file, then use Import on your new computer. If you have a Lifetime license, you can also use Local P2P Wi-Fi Sync to transfer your vault directly over your local network.
Your license key is displayed immediately on the confirmation screen after checkout and is also emailed to the address you entered. If you cannot find the email within a few minutes, please check your spam folder or email us at support@passsafer.com with your transaction details.
